Am I in God's Will?

Do you ever just find yourself in a tizzy like I do wondering if you're following God's plans for your life?

It happens so often.

It can be on our lunch break while we're eating leftovers from dinner the night before, or when our head hits the pillow at night and we're trying to simply fall asleep.

Whether you are 13 or 53 we all have many moments where life feels so beyond us that we wonder if we are where we are supposed to be.

I like to think about the disciples. Gosh, if I knew them I think I would have been laughing all the time. They were a bunch of goofy guys who didn't really have the best understanding about life, especially Jesus'.

Instance after instance, they are questioning, falsely rebuking, and straight up cutting people's ears off (okay this was by one person, one time but it's in all four gospels so cut me some slack).

But even after all that we read in the scriptures, we don't see Jesus excommunicating them from His side. Jesus never says, okay Peter, that was your last shot and now you need to find someone else to hang around because you are threatening my holy vibe.

Haha, no.

I think it's about the same with us especially since Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever and who He was on the earth is who He is to us as well.

By the way that Jesus treated His disciples, I really don't think that He would treat me any different. He is not looking at my stupidities and longing to cut me off or throw me to the wolves. He is lovingly standing near me, correcting me and laughing with me.

I think our lives are to be lived as such that capture the trust that Jesus offers. He walks in such love and passion for those that desire to know Him. He isn't questioning if we should be friends, if we make His life better or worse, if we mesh with Him enough... no. He is walking out a relationship that He doesn't intend on ending. In fact, He prays for us daily that we may not fall away from His presence.

Realize this fam. Realize it well. That our God is not debating if we are off track in His presence or walking oblivious to His truth. He is lovingly with us and for us throughout even our biggest doubts.

Let me yell this to you (imagining you are on one mountaintop and I on the other). THERE IS NO MISSING OUT ON THE PLAN GOD HAS FOR YOU IN THIS MOMENT... BECAUSE HE IS THE PLAN. HE IS THE ENTIRE POINT FOR YOUR EXISTENCE.

He is perfectly content with you as a child, walking with Him, and guess what? He is so not concerned about what you eat or where you live as to the point of changing His relationship status with you.

When you move here, or add this friend to your circle, or even use some of your finances in a way that isn't the best, He's not ready to let go of you. He is in it for the long haul. And that long haul has always been held up by Him.

He held Himself on the cross so that you could be held up by Him for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.

There is no, if I get this job, or if I start going to this church, will He be upset with me, will He stop providing for me, will He give up on me!?

Heaven no child! You're His, He does not give up as easily as we do. In fact, He never gives up, it's not in His character.

What we have to grab onto here is the trust that is offered to us. Do we trust that He will speak, that He will direct, that He will show us the way that we are to go? The disciples set out on journeys with Jesus often and they trusted that He would walk with them where they were needing to go. And when Jesus sent them on their own, He gave them the direction that was necessary.

In Mark 6 and Luke 10 Jesus sends out His disciples. He didn't give them direction on exactly where to go, that we read of, but He did give them specific instruction on what to do and how to do it.

Maybe walking through your season right now you have wondered if you're in God's will because you haven't heard the direction on specifically where to go, but don't forget about His instruction on what to do.

Is it always the easiest to know what to do and not exactly where to go? For me, heck no it isn't! Say we were going on vacation. I prefer that you tell me where, when, and then what we need to do to get ready. God forbid that you would tell me hey, go get this from the store, pack this and just start driving.

Hahahaha, you would most likely never get me to even move before I forced, begged, and pleaded with you to tell me where on earth we are going and when we are leaving.

And it's okay that we seek these answers from the Lord. By all means we are able to ask Him where and when but gosh, let's not get so caught up in having everything figured out and perfectly planned that we can't have a little faith, trust, and pixie dust.

I think God is okay with where you are. If He's not, you'll know it. You'll feel conviction within you to live in a different manner, to set yourself a part for Him to be the Leader. Make that change, put your life in a posture to be molded and refined. But for those of you who are walking with Jesus and still wonder, am I where I need to be? The answer is yes. Yes, you are exactly where you need to be to start trusting His instruction. To start picking up your Bible, to start humbling yourself to hear His voice, to start walking in faith where He has you right this minute.

He has something for you right where you are, beyond that, He will be the one to get you there. That's the truth. He won't leave you nor forsake you. He is a good guy and He has some good things for you, right here, right now.
