Humanity: His Work of Art
God surely does and has always been about us. In creativity, in mention... He saturates us with who He is.
Reading through Proverbs this morning I came across a lovely verse; "Just as no two faces are exactly alike, so every heart is different." Proverbs 27:19
Although this scripture is meant for good (which we will venture through in a moment) it is easy to see the faults at hand and get carried away.
For me to read this scripture I can easily get problematic. I can begin to think of all the times where I have a beyond complicated time getting to know someone or even just communicate an idea to them. I can ponder on how different we are as humans and get seriously distraught because, if we're all so different, how are we supposed to come together and actually produce love?!
There are so many social situations that have stemmed from our differences that profusely blow my mind because they are simply overwhelming. Contemplating on how to solve these dilemmas can be too much for us as individuals, therefore we don't pay attention to the news or current issues. And even beyond this, it can be difficult for us to find people in our communities that are on the same page as us to discuss and bring light.*
I think this verse though, has answers in it to even the large problems we see today, whether it's our communication with family or the quarrels that we see taking place throughout the government.
"Just as no two faces are exactly alike, so every heart is different."
What if we read this verse and distinctly reveled in God's creativity, His handiwork, His love for humanity?
God Himself has decided to make humankind the exemplified article of His nature.
When I read this verse, my mind goes "WOW, I serve a God who within us, put differences that were thought-up by Him."
He isn't surprised by our differences, our unique faces or hearts, He crafted them with gentleness and power for a glory to be known that can only be brought about through our realization of our Creator.
And if that isn't enough to be amazed at our differences, think of how He DESIRES to dwell within us.
He hasn't chosen one face, or one heart but all, that we may be one when He is within us.
Our contrasting lives aren't meant to be despised or fought with, but to be enamored by love.
If we take the time to be in awe of the one who Created us, we would live lives that are capable of compatibility and comparability that bring us together. No, it's not about shutting down our distinctions and making our faces look alike or even our heart's passions become completely like another's. True amazement comes in the view of being created by a God who saw us and what we could be without Him but still gave us the ability to choose Him.
"Just as no two faces are exactly alike, so every heart is different."
Thank you God, that when I come in contact with someone who is completely different than me, that I struggle to understand, my response can be, "You're amazing; you were created by God, and God can (or does) live in you just as He created me and lives in me... the same God, created completely different people. WOW."
