How Time Can Pass
Have you ever been there?
You find yourself waiting for what seems like the most opportune time to act?
I think life is filled with these moments.
We choose to stay quiet and not share our hearts because we don’t feel like we have arrived at a place where we can really bring about the best picture.
We don’t speak up when God asks us to share a word of encouragement because they don’t seem ready or we don’t feel prepared.
If we choose to live life this way though, I’ve noticed that,
We’re not really living life and definitely not life more abundantly.
Our lives are boring.
I’ve thought about doing some pretty radical things recently, and what they would entail. And this thought came to mind;
Well, you haven’t gotten things figured out yet so maybe you should hold off until you get your life a little more understood.
A genuine thought. I do appreciate my mind for coming up with it…
But if I live by these thoughts of never actually being there, or at the finish line, or at the figured-out line, time still passes.
And this time, I can’t get back.
Like a good cookie that you were waiting to eat and is snatched away and quickly eaten by your youngest sibling.
I know we don’t like to think this way, no one likes the feeling of a missed opportunity, but it’s a reality that only some will wake up to; and I believe that followers of Christ are those that are called to take God up on this.
God desires to have the earth made ready for Jesus’ return, and that made ready process is through us.
It’s crazy, and it’s a lot, but it’s a lot of crazy goodness.
In His love, He desires us to move forward and step into the reality that the world is in need of what we have inside of us. If we don’t wake up and we wait for every moment that seems to be the best- we will never know what the best moment looks, smells, or sounds like.
Because there isn’t always one.
Discomfort will always be a factor in these times of decision making.
And if you’re anything like, let’s say, human, than discomfort can cause emotions to rise and distort our encounters when we want to do what God is calling us to do.
Remember, what you have inside of you is meant to be given. Don’t hold back because you feel like you haven’t arrived. There is no arriving until we are face to face with Jesus. Until then, give it all you have.
Give when your friend is in need; do it when you don’t know if you can.
Speak to the stranger when you don’t know how they will react with your words of encouragement.
Listen to the person that may have you on the phone all night because they have a lot going on.
Write the poem that God has been putting on your heart even if it doesn’t make sense.
Join the small group that God has been tenderly pushing you towards.
And even delete the things that He has been calling you to let go of.
Whatever it is, live your life more abundantly instead of letting your life live you… it’s more fun this way. And I believe it is how God has called us to live.
