It’s been happening recently, that about 45 minutes before my scheduled alarm, I find myself awake.

Somedays, it’s my cat moving about the room.

Other days, I just happen to wake up.

Whatever the reason though, I decide to stay in bed and just think with God.

I take this time, as moments where God is seeking community with me where I’m still, agendaless, and unconsumed… I’m barely even awake for crying out loud.

And isn’t this the beauty of our God.

To desire us when our competency is low and our words are quite incapable of forming complete thoughts.

I love this about God. I love that, before I can even work to get up at the alarm I have set to spend time with Him, He is already ahead of me.

He goes beyond my ability.

He says, “I’ve loved you first and when you think that you can love me more, I'm already loving you, awaiting your first glance of morning… And can I be the one who wakes you? I’m just overjoyed and I don’t want to wait any longer for you to be with me, I want right now. I’m just so excited about you, so in love with you. Oh, wake up and be with me… without comprehension and in a total state of inability… be with me. I love you even at this state and so much at this place.”

He is a God who prepares the table before us… He is a morning of waking up to smell coffee and a delicious breakfast joyfully cooked just for you, full of surprise and the most savory of moments.

We are connected with a God who desires us. Not a God who demands of us. He has always been the God that runs ahead to meet us before we imagined meeting Him. When we plan to spend time with Him and directly be with Him, He goes even further to express His love toward us in ways beyond our expectations.

And isn’t that what our hearts want and need? He romances us in our days and opens up curiosities, mysteries of His goodness to spark our wandering in Him. His life in us is never boring but in fact, always advancing to something beautiful and worthy.

He is on the forefront, building our lives. He is in the beginning stages of our next steps. He is on the cusp of our future thoughts.

He is the beginning.
